Kidney Loop System Goedgevonden JV

PitViperFloSolve recently installed a 24V kidney loop system on a PitViper 275 Drill on the Glencore Goedgevonden site near Ogies Town.

Goedgevonden is situated 7km south of Ogies, a small town to the west of Emalahleni (formerly Witbank) in Mpumalanga.A trial mini pit was started at Goedgevonden in May 2003, and since then has been producing at a rate of 1,200,000 tonnes per annum run of mine (ROM) coal by contractors.

The remaining coal reserves were really only re-evaluated by Duiker Mining in 1993 and a feasibility study was concluded to establish an underground mine. Following the acquisition of Duiker by Xstrata the reserves were re-evaluated, culminating in the opening of a trial mini pit. A bankable feasibility study was completed in August 2006 to develop and opencast mine. Goedgevonden employ approximately 195 employees.

Kidney LubeThe Challenge:

Goedgevonden were experiencing pump failure due to dirt in the oil. Goedgevonden tasked FloSolve to provide a solution.

The Solution:

FloSolve Middelburg offered a kidney loop system 24V, Pall 13″ 7 micron SRT 319 housing & element, blockage indicator & a Pall 3050 breather. The unit was designed and manufactured by FloSolve Middelburg at their premises, the unit was delivered and installed on a PV275 drill. The installation was easy and quick with only 2 hoses that needed to be connected with quick couplers.

The installation was completed in June 2014 and Goedgevonden are pleased with the quality of the product and the excellent service FloSolve continues to provide.
